Foyer is a one-time purchase with no account and no subscription. These terms say who stands behind it and what you are buying.
Who publishes Foyer
Foyer is made and published by Florent Berrez, an independent developer based in Paris, France. You can reach a human at [email protected], and you can see who I am and what else I build at fberrez.co. There is no company behind this, no support ticket queue, and no bot: mail goes to me.
What you may do with the app
Buying Foyer, or using the free tier, gives you a personal, non-exclusive licence to run it on the devices tied to your Apple Account, under Apple's usual family sharing rules. You do not own the software itself, you own the right to use it.
Please don't resell it, rent it out, ship it inside another product, or pull the app apart to extract the sound files and distribute them as your own library. Everything else you would reasonably expect to do with an app you bought is fine.
The free tier and the unlock
The free tier is real and does not expire. It includes the full sound library, spatial mixing, five saved rooms, the menu-bar control and timer, AirPods head tracking, and shareable rooms.
The one-time unlock costs $9.99 and covers Mac and iPhone together, forever. It adds unlimited sounds and rooms, scheduling, Shortcuts and Focus filters, and iCloud sync. There is no subscription and no account to create.
Prices are set per region by Apple and can change. A change never applies retroactively: what you already unlocked stays unlocked.
Payments and refunds
Every purchase goes through Apple's App Store. I never see your name, email, or payment details, and I cannot issue a refund myself. Refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple's decision is theirs to make. If something is broken, write to me first: fixing it is usually faster than a refund.
The sounds
The sounds bundled with Foyer are CC0 recordings, sourced and verified before shipping. You can use the mixes you create however you like, including in something you sell. The licence covers using them inside Foyer, not redistributing the raw audio files as a sound pack.
Your rooms are yours
Rooms and settings live on your device. If you have iCloud sync, they move through your own iCloud account and never touch a server of mine. See the privacy policy for the detail. Nothing here gives me any claim over what you make.
What I can and cannot promise
Foyer is provided as it is. I test it, I use it every day, and I fix what breaks, but I cannot promise it is free of bugs, that it will work on every configuration, or that a future macOS or iOS release will not break something. If a system update breaks the app, I will do my best to ship a fix rather than leave you with a dead purchase.
Features can be added, changed, or removed. If something you paid for is removed, that is worth an email and I will treat it as such.
To the extent the law allows, my liability is limited to what you paid for the app. Nothing in these terms takes away the statutory rights you have as a consumer in your country, and in the EU that includes the legal guarantee of conformity.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Foyer at any time by deleting it. I can end this licence if you use the app to break the law or to redistribute it, which has never happened and I do not expect it to.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new effective date. Anything material gets said plainly on this page rather than buried in a paragraph.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep the protection of your own country's mandatory rules and can bring a dispute before the courts where you live. Before any of that, write to me: almost everything is a misunderstanding that an email fixes.
